Emberfall is a co-op roguelike dungeon crawler for 1–4 players. Pick a Knight, an Assassin or a Mage, gather your party in the Shrine and descend: fifty floors across five realms, a lord waiting at every tenth floor, and the Ember King at the very bottom.

Features

• Online co-op for up to four. Host from the main menu and friends join with a 4-letter code. Or play solo with three AI companions who fight, dodge, drink and revive you.
• 244 abilities, each with its own hand-made effect. Meteors, sky pillars, glacial prisons, eclipses, giant spectral swords. No two spells look alike.
• Three classes, twelve skill paths. Any class can learn any ability. Spend points in the Ember Web, then Awaken a mastered path to push it further.
• Five realms, fifty floors. The Catacombs, the Ashen Foundry, the Frozen Abyss, the Stormbound Halls and the Blighted Grotto, each with its own monsters, traps, music and lords.
• Gear worth the fall. Common to Legendary drops, item sets and class bonds, upgrades at the Smith, crafting, and red Mythic gear for those who reach the end.
• Something is hidden down there. Not every door in the dungeon is meant to be found. Some of them lead home.
• Everything is procedural. Every model, particle, sound and note of music is generated by code at runtime. There are no asset files.

How to play

Install (Windows)

1. Download and run Emberfall-Setup-0.16.1.exe (or the free demo installer).
2. The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info → Run anyway.
3. Start Emberfall from the desktop or Start-menu shortcut.

The loop

1. You begin in the Shrine, your home between runs. Walk to the great gate and choose Descend alone or Descend with 3 companions.
2. Clear each floor's rooms. When a fight starts, iron bars drop over the doors, but the way you came in stays open, so you can always retreat.
3. Loot is carried in your pack. It's banked when you descend or return home, and lost if your whole party falls.
4. Floors 5, 15, 25… hold an Elder; every 10th floor a lord. Beat a lord and you can start later runs from the floor after it.
5. Back home: spend Skill Points in the Ember Web (N), upgrade at the Smith, craft gear, trade with the Merchant, try your luck at the Reliquary, and test builds on the training dummy.

Playing online

• Host: Main menu → Play Online → Host on this PC. Your addresses and a 4-letter party code appear. Allow Emberfall through the Windows firewall when asked (it uses TCP port 8787).
• Join: Play Online → Join, type the host's address and the party code.
• On the same network it just works. Over the internet, the host forwards TCP port 8787 on their router (or you all use a virtual-LAN tool) and friends use the host's public address. (Recommend Using RadminVPN or Hamachi)
• The demo and the full game can't share a party.

Free demo

The demo is the whole game's first realm: the Catacombs, floors 1–10, ending with its lord. It has ability tiers 1–3 and online co-op between demo players. It installs and saves separately, so it never touches a full-game save.

System requirements

• Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
• A graphics card with WebGL 2 support (on integrated graphics, lower the quality preset in Options)
• ~400 MB disk space
• Internet or LAN only for online co-op (Recommend Using RadminVPN or Hamachi)
